Jeep JK 2016 New 3.6 pentastar price?

I recently took my 2016 wrangler into the dealership to check on some engine noise it was making. The dearlership got back to me and said that the engine had water damage and needed to be replaced. They are charging me $9500 for the new engine and labor. Is this a normal price for an engine? Also does the engine that I currently have in the jeep really need to be replaced? I drove the jeep to the dealership and the engine only has 4900 miles on it total. Thanks for everyone's help in advance.

Can you give us more info? Was it a flood recovery vehicle? How did you get it? How long have you had it? Etc...

yup unless you submerged it the warrantee should cover the engine and if you have flood damage I would think your auto insurance would pay.

For another $5k you could put in a Chevy 5.3L V8.

Hi Litb,

Your powertrain warranty, which is for 5 years, 100K miles, would normally cover engine work. Are you aware of the warranty being voided on the vehicle for any reason--maybe it was flooded?

Where's Paul Harvey when you need him?

(And now, the rest of the story?)

Perhaps a second opinion from another Jeep dealer?

Water damage? Did they find a fish in it or something?

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.
