Built a trailer to match my Jeep using a Harbor Freight $179 trailer. Total cost after registration and a few weekends of work came to $580.
Will post build pictures and steps if anyone is interested.
Harbor Freight Haul-Master - Item#90153
Reese 2" Coupler (2.5" rail)
3/4" Marine Grade Plywood
6" (5.5") Pine Tongue and Groove
Stainless Steel bolts for everything except tongue
Kilz primer for all wood (2 coats each)
Hammered Rustoleum for silver
Truck bed liner for black base
Wheel hub spray
L brackets for corners
Aluminum corners for decoration
16 gauge wiring (ran ground wire to each light)
Sand for sandblasting
Beer for dealing with tight spots while tightening bolts and planing plywood to be level over frame(vodka would've been better)
Rides nice, wish tongue was longer but I can fit in most parking spaces with it not being too long. Bought a spare tire and grease to carry with me for long trips. Fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I want to thank everyone on the forums for all the great ideas along the way, I couldn't have done it without you. I'll be building someway to get two small kayaks on it this summer if I'm lucky.
Here's some build pictures:
Also a pre-reality sketchup build I did when thinking of designs before I purchased anything.
