New wheels on our 07 JK Wrangler

What a bummer to get to the end of the run and it's blocked - so close and yet so far away.

Some more pictures:

-I escaped for a little bit during the day while everyone had a break, then had to head back.

-Some of the trail....zero difficulty...but a nice drive through the woods.

-Sorry, poor quality

-Sorry again, bad quality

-Finally home at the end of the day after having to head back in after the break everyone had.

Personally, I like extremely challenging, but I just needed to escape and so did 3 others, so we all jumped into my Jeep and took a small trek through the woods, again, zero difficulty so it wasn't "fun," but it was relaxing....which is exactly what was needed too. And the little bit of mud I found here and there gave me a little bit of fun.

We went down to Moab yesterday to go on some Teraflex organized rides. We went on a trail named "Metal Masher".
Based on the title of the trail, I was already concerned. Here are a few photos from the day:

Here we are at the staging area:

A short hill climb that was pretty rough at the top:

This is our attemp at the obstacle titled "Widowmaker", yes that is a winch cable attached to the front,
but note the slack in the cable in the second picture:

And for comparasin, here is my daughter who stands 53" tall near the base of "Widowmaker":

And the only damage from the day, was a few scrapes to the stock front
bumper that were sustained during our approach to "Widowmaker".

Enjoy

More Pictures

Never wheel alone! Got stuck last night, but my Superwinch EPI 9.0 fullfilled it's duty! I can pretty much never find anyone to wheel with, so I finally got fed up and went out on my own. After work, the sun had already set when I got to the trail. So I did some night wheel'n alone on a trail I've never been on before, in the deep woods of the south....oh and I'm a "yankee with a JK." So I had alot going for me....lol. And then I get stuck in some black muck...I miss good ol' brown mud from home. I approached the mud waaay too slow and had little momentum to carry me accross, dumb mistake on my part...

But now I was alone, pitch black, not sure exactly where I was, but some idea, deep woods of the south....as an "outsider" to the "local's turf." I felt very comforted being immobilized in that situation. I had scenes from deliverance playing in my head....could've sworn I heard a banjo.

But, I managed to climb all over my Jeep and stand on my bumper while I pulled the winch cable from the winch, grabbed my treesaver strap and a shackle, then rigged up to a tree. I got back in the jeep and winched myself out. Threw all my gear back in the Jeep and headed for home off the trail, decided I'd tested my luck enough out there alone.

-Some of the trail

-Stuck Alone, in the dark, on a trail I've never been to before, in the woods of the south, where I'm not a local, won't be rushing out alone like that again. But my winch performed perfectly, and was alot of fun getting myself unstuck.

-Not very dirty for getting stuck like I did, I guess the rest of the muddy water puddles helped wash her off on the way out from the trail. BUT I did learn that black wheels may look pretty nice on my Jeep, I was previously skeptical.

-Just another angle
