homemade raingear?

Ive been asking alot about how to make your own rainproofing, and a lot of you said tarp and bungee chords, now i'm not too sure what you mean by that. Are you modifying the tarp at all? is it drivable with the tarp on there for a short period of time. If you have any pictures with a tarp on your jeeps or a picture of your own rainproofing to post up. It'd help a lot with my problem, the thing is that it is raining far to much for West Texas and i didn't think i would need a rain top until at least October. Thanks in Advance!
