Enhanced safety inspection...

I Had my jeep hit in nov 2008, it was totaled off by the insurance company and I bought it back.
The jeep has been sitting idle since Dec of 08 and I thought I was going to part it out/ sell it but I don't want to now I am attached to it. I realize that it won't have as high a resale value but I am not worried about that because I can't imagine ever selling it. I have to many memories in my jeep to just part her out and sell her off.

I want to build it up and retitle it; in PA you have to go through an enhanced safety inspection to retitle a car from a salvage cert. I want to know if anyone here has been through this?
What was it like?
Did you have to build back to stock first or can I build it up and then have the inspection?
I am a little new to the process and a little wary because I have never done this but I know of people who have. I don't want to spend a bunch of money to find out that I can't get a title...

It would really suck to have to put stock suspension on it get the inspection and then tear that all off to do the 8.8 swap SYE and lift.

I can't help you, but I would try by calling the DMV and/or a state trooper/inspection facility... whoever it is that will actually see it for the inspection.

My guess is that they will just be looking over the frame and suspension and steering extra closely to make sure any repairs were done properly, in addition to the usual inspection.

In NY they give it the normal inspection plus they check the vehicle for stolen parts and confirm the papers are in order and all the numbers are matching, etc. This is done at a special state run inspection garage and is very expensive. PA may be different. I know the NYS DMV page outlines everything, maybe the PA one does too?
