Discontinued Jeep Wrangler

I heard a rummer today that Jeep is discontinueing the Jeep Wrangler in 2011. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? They might as well close their doors if that's the case.

It might help if you tell us where you heard this rumor. I heard that the sun is coming up in the west tomorrow. I'd give it about the same credence.

I can't say that it is not true but I am more tempted to now more than ever. One, because they are about to start putting the diesel in them. I would think this is to attract more customers so why increase sales and quit. Two, from looking on the highway, not stats, I would say that wrangler specific sales are as good as they have ever been. The new JKs are everywhere, heck even the suburban housewives are driving them after the blow drying commercial.

I feel like getting rid of their icon vehicle would be pretty disastrous?

I say it can't happen.

I heard it at our local outdoor show this weekend from a vender. I laughed at him when he said it but he just stood there and looked at me like I was stupid for not believing him. With all of the economic issues right now you never know what any of the auto companies are going to cut out. I also heard that Toyota made a great car a couple of months ago. Now look at them.

The jeep name has a ton of value. It would be sold before anything else. Remember this has been done before. Bantam/Willy's/Kaiser/AMC/Chrysler/Daimler Chysler/Chrysler LLC/Chrysler Fiat

This has happened before. Times are different though. I know this issue has come up plenty times before. I don't believe it will happen though.

I heard something about the soft top not being available in CA after 2011. I don't remember the details but it was something about CA vehicles have to have some bs in the glass that you can't put in plastic windows. Maybe that dude heard that rumor and freaked.

The real question is will Chrysler be the one that still builds Jeeps? Someone will...

It is more than likely a problem of bits and pieces falling off the bandwagon.

The likely scenario, and reality, is more like the Wrangkler as we know it now is discontinued. Chrysler made no secrets that the 2011 Wrangler would see some significant changes.

In the November 4, 2009 powerpoint presentation of the Chrysler group LLC business plan, it is indicated that the 2011 Jeep Wrangler would see "Major Modification". With that in mind, it is easy for someone to say that the current Wrangler is discontinued....for something new, not permanent discontinuation.

Patriot, Compass and Liberty will however be discontinued in 2013, to be replaced by a Fiat product of sort (plus the introduction the same year of a small SUV).

I would also take a 1K$ bet that the flagship of Jeep wont be discontinued to not be replaced with something.

The end of Jeep as we know it is fast approaching, once they leave American soil there will be no longer a 'Jeep' Jeep is an American 4x4 and only true Jeeps are made in America. Once Fiat gets a hold on everything, Jeep is doomed, hopefully Ford or GM will save it. Without the Wrangler there will be no point of Jeep. It is after all Jeep's signature model, open top Jeeps started it all in 1939 and it needs to stay that way.

I'm cool, the value on mine would sky rocket! Cause let's face it, everyone wants a Jeep.

I believe this to be true as well. The government that commissioned it is the one that is bringing it down.
