**Dirty Cheap TJ Build Thread**

Im just starting this project after getting out of a tiny matchbox-esque honda civic hatchback.

I had been eyeing a TJ in the drive way of one of my landscaping customers for 3 years and felt bad for it because it was never driven.

The top had dry rotted after it sat for 5 years and things had developed a little surface rust but nothing terrible. The paint was in good shape but covered in slime and dirt 1/8" thick.

What im starting with is a 1999 Wrangler SE, Smooth 5 Speed, and the best part... only 75,866 miles.

Sale Price: $2000

Here She Is.

The part ordering begins today and Ill post up things as they come in and go on the jeep. I feel like I'm off to a good start already.

Big plans, they will be slow going but steady, first off is a good solid sound system/CB set up, then skids and recovery/bumpers. Then the lift and all accompanying items for that.

$2,000! Wow, great deal man. Just pretend you paid $3,000 for it. So right off the bat you have $1,000 bucks to put into it. Ha!

Awesome, awesome steal man. Good luck with it.

Oh I think I pretended i payed 1000 for it, after a new soft top, tune up stuff, bikini top, tonneau cover.
Then a CB set up and a new windshield. SO i think i caught up in the first day to the 3000 mark

At the present time, Im keeping my options open but the plan is 33" tires and a good mid arm set up, but im still looking for that part of it. Along with all of my necessary recovery gear, winch, bumpers, hilift, straps and all that.

Just a quick update, did a little ordering today.

Rough Country 2.5" Kit
Custom 1" Body Lift ( Grand total for this was 35 bucks with hardware and all)

This will make room for some 33x10.50 km2s and the BL will allow for the planned tummy tuck.
Will post some pictures as soon as the stuff arrives.

Very nice. It sounds like your priorities for the parts are pretty straight. Any idea what skid plate you're going with? Any plans on tucking the gas tank? Don't forget about an oil pan skid plate, steering box skid, steering and brakes. Lastly, you should put this thread in the Registry for all to see.

Im stuck between the Teraflex and the 33Eng plates, they both seem to be sufficient but I am still doing some research on both of them. I looked into tucking the tank but i think I will settle on the Savvy gas tank skid when the time comes, I just want a manageable total vehicle height so i can still use my parking deck and maintain poor gas mileage ( without dipping into abysmal) , but have the underbody clearance of a much bigger rig.
Also how do I put this in the registry?
