buying advice tj 97 vs 06

Right now I have a 97 TJ with 130K miles auto. It has 4" lift with SYE 33" tires an ARB bumper with a Winch.

I have Found a 06 TJ with 68k miles auto. It has 2.5" OME lift New 33" tires dana 44 rear axel. No winch or SYE
The 06 is forsale for about 1500$ more than i can get for my current TJ, both have hard tops and soft tops and I can move my bumper and winch over.

I can't decide which is better, my 97 currently needs some new seats, new steering gear and a new front fender (rust issues) and i starting to show it's age. I still want an auto transmission.
Should i buy the 06 or keep my 97?

So your TJ plus $1500 and you get an 06 with half as many miles and in better shape or am I missing something here..... If this is the case why wouldn't you do it?

because I have read some bad reputation of the 4 speed auto and the OPDA on the 06.
But I think yuor right, half the miles and better shape is a good trade of.

I wouldn't worry with the OPDA issue. It is blown waaayyy out of proportion not to mention being 8-9 yrs old if it was an issue it would show up by now.

I have an 05' TJ and my OPDA just gave me some problems at 80K miles, but that was a quick $150 fix and the trans hasn't given me any problems at all. I think as long as you have a solid buyer on your jeep defiantly do it.

OPDA is far from an epidemic and can be dealt with. The 42RLE is not a great transmission that's true, but it's suckiness gets greatly exaggerated.

Keep your bumper and winch, sell yours for $500 less than with those two and buy the 2006

If you are sure about how much you can sell your's for, I'd say do it.
