Bronco vs Wrangler

So Ford released they will be brining back the Bronco, anyone think it will compete with the wrangler? Someone told me that the Bronco isn't really meant to off road, but I though it was. Correct me if I am wrong. Also will it be solid axle or IFS?

I think 2018 or 2020. I think its going to be interesting because jeep is now entering the light utility truck area since there is a void for a legit LIGHT utility truck, but ford to is bringing back the ford ranger. Im a FIAT and Ford Stock holder so I read their recent plans. Also Fiat wants to cut the 2dr wrangler so they only have to use one frame for the unlimited wrangler and the scrambler or brute. Its not confirmed though, they just discussed it since only about 30% of wrangler sold were 2drs and the trend is continuing to decline for 2dr sales. Personally I get it from a buisneess point, and that helps my 2dr resale value. Jeep needs to leave Fiat

All I've been able to dig up is that it's supposed to be body on frame, and that it's will possibly available as a 4 door. But anything else I've found on it are mostly guesses. Everything I've found that 'shows' it carry the 'artists rendering' tag.
I was always a fan of the early bronco, lost interest when they went f150 based,(so I ran the bronco 2) and except for the sport 2 door, had no real liking for the explorer, so I'm hoping it's closer to the early bronco.

Solid axle would be nice, but I'm not expecting it will be IFS because pretty much everything else Ford makes is IFS, and it's to be built alongside the new ranger, so sharing parts with ranger will be cheaper than a new solid or TTB style design.
If it looks like the renderings, it will be a nice looking ride, but I prefer a solid axle....

It's just going to be a Ranger with a full body.

I really, really want it to compete with the wrangler. I think if Ford were smart they'd make it as such. That said I don't think it will, and will likely be wussier than we all even imagined.

So, just another explorer.
I've never cared for four door trucks or cars, or even extended cab trucks.
The image here and others like it are the ones that got me excited about the new bronco:

If it looks like that I'd buy one, faster if it had a removable top. But if it's a four door, I'll stick with my YJ and old ranger.
Honestly, none of the automakers have made a truck or anything really in the last 15 years that made me want to buy one.

Removable top, 2 solid axles, 2 door with a 5.0 coyote.

I'd definitely be in on that!

But it won't, probably another explorer 2.0 or similar.

Just a thought that I've occasionally had. Should the Raptor have been called the Bronco instead? Did Ford miss their chance to bring back the name?

Since 4 doors and trucks was brought up, what I would really like is a US version 79 series landcruiser with the diesel.

OldJackTheJeep and Kgleiss05 like this.

According to this article Ford are directly targeting the Wrangler.

according to rumors weíre hearing, we donít need to worry about Ford refreshing an Everest for North American consumption and relying on a nostalgic nameplate to carry it off the lot...
...The details point to Fordís Bronco rebirth being more of a Wrangler competitor than a 4Runner clone, bringing the fight to Jeep in a segment it has owned for decades.
I seriously doubt it'll have a solid front axle, but at least it sounds like Ford know people don't want a rebadged Everest.

How can it target or compete with the wrangler without a solid front axle?

They figure by the time they come out the wrangler will be independent too.

Kinda sad to have to even think this but I would buy the series 79 Landcruiser over any of the new Fiat jeeps
