Beach Rescue

Thought you may appreciate this. I was in the OBX (NC) last week and had to pull out this pickup. Haha.

Why does it look like the Jeep is larger than the Super Duty?

First great job on the rescue. But you may want to consider some saftey tips for next time. Remove the passengers from your jeep they make great targets if the tow strap were to break. Also a nice heavy blanket or even a towel accross the strap would help prevent it from flying into the cab of either vehicle in the event it did break. I have had straps and chains break while extracting vehicles from mud holes, this is why I mention this not trying to bust your balls or anything. Remember saftey first.

Thanks for the tips man! We didn't have a lot of time so I was trying to get it done. I figured he would prefer a strap through his grill than his truck getting taken away with the tide. Haha. I will keep this stuff in mind for next time though.

To answer rtylers question...Different sections of the beach are closed and reopened all the time. For an up to date map on what is open or closed, there is a Google Earth map that is updated regularly at: www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/off-road-vehicle-use.htm

Everyone needs to get involved with this issue so the piping plover freaks don't get their way and close the beach for everyone, not just for offroading.

I hear that. It amazes me the number of people that get their big old pickups stuck in the sand.
