The number one use of a stinger is to intimidate the guy who wont get out of the way.

EDIT: I am going to put a sight on mine...like a gun sight

Evidently tj guys. They don't rely on the e brake though like we do. They put it in park.

Actually I wrote it in the buried thread first (2 AM and couldn't sleep), then I thought it would be a good main topic to go along with threads reading: "What is a Stinger?"

The Stinger came on my Sahara when I bought it, and I had to ask "What is that? Ans: "It's a Stinger" "What is it used for?" Ans: "Making the Jeep look cool".

I came here to find out it was to help prevent end-over, and protect the engine. I doubt very much I'll ever use it for that purpose !!! 2-tracks, mild hill climbing, climbing through bric-brac, fording a stream, 4 wheeling in the snow ... car camping.

So I needed to justify the stinger on my machine; rather than taking it off.

Does a pretty good job protecting the grill and radiator without getting in the way of the winch, eh.

Stinger use

Best I can tell is a stinger is for putting extreme force on your front frame section in a front end collision, there by bending your frame rails upward in an accident that may have caused no damage what so ever or perhaps just a dented bumper.........
