2011 Wrangler won't go over 20 mph

I hit a large puddle on the highway this morning at 65 mph, now my 2011 Wrangler sport won't go over 20 mph. The engine doesn't hardly rev even with the accelerator pressed all the way down. Is this something that will be okay after letting it dry for a bit, or do I need to take it in? Thanks.

Is your check engine light on?
It sounds like it has gone into limp mode.

No lights are on. I'm wondering if some water didn't get in the intake.

Wow. I'll be the first on this post to crack a joke about the pentastar being the problem. Crap! Just gave away the punchline. Anyways... It could be in limp mode, but I thought the CEL would come as well. The other thing it might be is a sensor malfunction in the traction control / stability management. I doubt water in the intake would cause your issue.

Water in the filter, but not enough to penetrate and Hydo the engine, could--

Fog up the filter enough to restrict airflow and not allow the ECU to provide more RPM/fuel--

I'd take the filter out, checkit for water and be sure, if it is soaked--either replaceit or blowdryit--

Inspect the rest of the airbox and remove any water--

Good luck

Mini van engines don't go much faster than that he he !!. If there's water in the intake, then good bye mini van motor. It does sound like limp mode, but there should be a light. I feel that some thing got wet, and maybe when it dries out, things will go back to normal, lets pray that it's so. That's why I prefer the old carbed yj's and cj's, simple systems, not much to go wrong and not so hard to figure out when it does.

Heh Heh, that "minivan" engine had a 21 years reliable/suitable power for Chrysler and they can rev way over 5500 rpm/w plenty of power for a jeep-

It could be any number of things. I sure wouldn't try driving it in that condition.

I agree with checking the air filter. If its wet no air gets through with no air comes no rpms no rpms no speed you get the idea.

Oh and check your gas pedal sensor since you are drive by wire.

I'm gonna have to say that's something for the dealer to look at!
