2009? Last year of The jeep?
2008 was horrible for the American Auto industry. Plants have shut down and dealerships have closed up. Makes you wonder, is this the last year of the "Jeep" name? It certainly seems like I'm seeing more Wranglers out there but the only reason I ask is because my chrysler dealership, has a full stock of Lexus SUV's that are being held or parked in the jeep lot. Even though there is a full service Lexus dealership right across the street. Maybe they are just holding inventory, or maybe the dealers know something we dont...
![]() In any event, I hope the jeep name sticks around for a long a time...

Oh, and Jeeps aren't going anywhere. Chrysler may not build them forever, but there's too much brand equity in Jeep for it to disappear.

Jeep is probably the only brand Chrysler could actually sell off and get someone to buy.

Dodge truck line and Jeep are the only thing anyone would buy, maybe their minivans but I doubt it. GM would love to get a hold of Jeep, that way they could dump their Hummer line which has had declining sales for the last few years and serious decline this year.

Chrysler has called Jeep their "crowned jewel." No need to worry.

My future cast for JEEP is simple: More Jeeps-More places. The Jeep name is not going away anytime soon. This is a tough vehicle made to survive tough times, rough roads, NO roads and a rough economy. Just hang in there and keep the faith. Remember it's not just a JEEP, it's a way of life.

Jeep has survived nearly 70 years and all the hard times in between, I think Jeep can easily survive this downturn.
plus, what has already been said, the Jeep name alone is made of gold in terms of brand equity, if Chrysler was to go bye bye, there would be a line up of people to buy Jeep off before Chrysler disappeared. I'd be more worried about government regulations diluting the next Wrangler to nothing than Jeep disappearing.

If Chrysler were to sell Jeep, there are many companies that would be fighting to get it. Jeeps are going to be available for a long time.

70 years, yes, but ...
Willys-Overland had a bankruptcy and reorganization in 1936. It's went through that before it made the vehicle that prompted this forum. It might go through another and still make vehicles.

LOL, the big 3 will be here, this country relies on the auto industry to survive. Think about it, the trickle down effect of any of the maufacturers, would be devastating, I think to the ring of 3 million people out of jobs to be close to exact. None of us can afford to have any of them go under. Congress is playing the same game with the auto makers as they did with the mortgage industry. A huge dog and pony show, to see how they are such heros.. etc, just vote them in again..lOL not to get into a huge debate of politics, but open your eyes and read between the distorted lines the press lets you see. I have been working for a Jeep dealer now for 13 years, and we are full line, as in: Chrysler , Dodge adn Jeep. We have had several local competitors recently go under, but they were not the most upstanding dealers either, adn had a lot issues with taking "care" of their customers. The smaller dealerships just can't hang on they don't have the capital and deep pockets like a lot of larger stores have, and the end results they are looking to do is streamline the industry. Chrysler is looking to make all stores be full line, by whichever means, whether it is selling out, or merging together to make these stores. Jeep will be here for you in the future, and LOL GM trying to buy Chrysler that is a joke, they can't bail their own a$$e$ out and they are trying to sink our ship..LOL

I just wish they would quit putting the Jeep badge on those econo-****-boxes (Compass, Patriot, etc) thinking it will help them sell.
