2006 LJ opinions

So I'm previously a YJ owner, but have wanted to upgrade to something with a bit more space and comfort. If I were to pick something up along these lines, what should I be on the look-out for?

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/ctd/4355072840.html

This sucker has 35s - should I be leery of that putting too much stress on the Dana 35 rear? Anything else I should check to make sure this lift was done right?
Is this a fair price? Sadly I think I'm stuck with an auto. Been having lots of trouble with my knees - especially in cold months.

All LJs came with a Dana 44 in the rear.

Looks pretty clean,
As far as lift goes, Wonder If those 35" are on stock 3.73 gears, and I also wonder if there are wheel spacers installed.

I might stop by and check it out tomorrow. Gearing-wise I bet this sucker is pretty slow, but I'm used to a 2.5l YJ and most recently a lifted Land Rover Discovery on 32s, which, despite a 4.0 V8, would probably give the YJ a run for slowest vehicle I've owned. So if it's any better than that, I'd be happy.

Looks nice. Inspect for rust and the usual. I would check out that RC lift also. Wondering if they installed a SYE or dropped the TC? It says new but check bushings and arms. For gears I would definitely take it for a spin on the highway. Download a gps speedometer app before you leave and check your speed then compare it to the RPM's.

It's been there for a few months so I figured they were asking too much or it has issues.
Looks nice from the road. I also think this was the same blue LJ that was up at carmax near Ordinary but I might be wrong.

False. None of them did actually. If you have an LJ Rubicon it would have come with a fixed flange output like all Rubicons did but that is different than an SYE. Non-Rubicon LJs came with same 231 slip yoke as all other TJs.

WAY over priced that's why its been there for a few months.

For reference I bought my bone stock '06 LJ rubi with 98,000 for $16,000. Do not pay for someones elses upgrades - especially those of the RC nature.

On the plus side it does look nice and clean, if you can get them down thousands of dollars (no joke) then I would keep looking unless you absolutely have to have it

Interesting. But that is definitely why I wanted others opinions. It's only a smidge above NADA values, and with a fresh, dealer-installed lift and brand new MTs I thought the price wasn't too bad. I still might check it out. See if they're willing to budge a little on price. I want to see what else they did besides just stick a lift kit on it. I gather it needs a SYE with that kind of lift on it, right?

Not necessarily because of the LJ's extended wheelbase.

If you could manage, take some picture of the front suspension, people on here will gladly dissect it for you and let you know if it's a good purchase or you'll be fighting problems for the jeeps lift due to the lack of quality if the parts and installation

You would think they'd be in a position to negotiate since it's been sitting for a while

I bought my LJ 2-1/2 years ago for 16k
I have since put tires on it and bought a Sailcloth top and a hardtop.
I would buy it, but I like LJ's and spent a year looking for mine.

It really is a perfect Jeep package. When I sold my YJ I wish I'd just been smart and bought one of these in the first place.

Well, I found out why it hasn't sold. It has rust bubbling on the passenger side rocker - about an inch from the bottom - in two spots. It looks like the previous owner bashed it, unlifted, on something. Otherwise the brand new lift looks and rides great. It's very clean inside and the engine sounds good. Underneath looks great.
It does not have spacers, nor does it have an SYE.
It had a vibration above 50 mph, though. However, I couldn't tell if it was from the brand new 35" BFG MTs or if it was driveline related.
