2003 Rubi "road trip pride!"

Last weekend, I drove approx. 1000+ miles up and back from the St. Louis, MO area up to the Rhinelander, WI area. I headed up to help my ma' move into a nice new home.

The Jeep had never been very far away from home since I bought it last fall.

I had lots of rain and mostly night-time driving - with the soft-top on, no less.

Couldn't have been more proud of how it traveled.

PodCasts on my phone and Rush CDs kept me company.

All-in-all, a GREAT trip except that the odometer rolled past 30k miles

Have a great week, all!

Hilde

good deal on the trip. I have a place about 20 miles south of rhinelander and love it up there, especially this time of the year

Yeah ... The leaves were pretty even with the overcast skies and rain. Of course, Sunday - the day after I left - it was a beautiful, sunny day.

I'm heading from SC to Missouri tomorrow and still debating on whether or not to take the Jeep or my car. You're making me want to take the Jeep. Lol

I've thought about moving back home. To Virginia. Only a 2700 mile trip. I have faith in my Jeep

Besides the fuel economy, our Jeeps are fine for road tripping .
This past July I did 4K miles from Texas to Colorado, Nevada, CA, Arizona and home.
It was not the best time of year for a road trip (hot! and not much color) but my Gecko was terrific.
Glad you had a safe trip.

Watch for The Lone Star Gecko - the Jeep wave is alive and well in Baytown, TX.

I ended up taking my Jeep. Around 1200 miles round trip and it did pretty well.

I do 1000km+ trips in my jeep a few times a year, no problem. Bikini top in the summer, soft top in the winter. It's a little loud in the summer, but worth it!

Wow! Only 30k... My '06 has just 36k. Who previously owned it?

It's always fun to take a road trip with a Jeep.

Yeah - I lucked out...I found an 'old guy' who had beaten up a CJ in his youth. When he retired, he bought the 'top of the line' Rubi when they came out in '03 (dual-top group, A/C, auto, etc). However, he rarely drove it. I took it off his hands with around 26k miles on it (still has the original MTRs with tons of tread). He had alllll the paperwork, window sticker, production line checklist from the factory, 2nd key...everything.
Jeep-times are good times!

Really nice! Yeah, there is a time in a guy's life that he wants a nice ride, over that beaten up POS that he use to drive. But I bet it was hard for him to have to sell. Enjoy!

Yeah ... He was a bit sad to let it go. I assured him it would be in good hands.

And yes, on the Rush CDs ... An 8+ hour drive with only my thoughts, Rush and the drone of the Jeep with softtop @ 70 mph. It was great! Lol about the 'close to Canada' comment.
