Trade the ZJ for a CJ 7?

1983 Jeep CJ7. Fresh 304 V8 with Edelbrock intake and Holley truck avenger Carb, Headers and dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. T-18 transmission (rebuilt) and Dana 20 transfer case with twin stick conversion (rebuilt). Dana 30 front axle with 3.73 gears and locker. AMC 20 rear with 3.73 gears and locker. 7 inches of lift with 16/35x15 boggers, tires are like new. All Autometer gauges, fuel gauge needs sending unit. Needs some paint, starting to peel on the hood, but not bad though. Interior has been bed lined, Nice seats, custom roll cage. New best top soft top. I know the shop that did all the work on it and he has done work on my ZJ he does quality stuff.
He wants to trade for my perfectly running ZJ that needs a paint job (good ole Chrysler clear coat!) Look at the sig for specs. He just had a baby and needs a second car that is a DD. I think with a little work the CJ7 cold be very street-able. All it needs to pass inspection here would be Catalytic converters on the exhaust. And we'll be trading straight up.

Soooo.....thoughts?

Thanks!

It looks to be in good shape, it has obviously had some kind of restoration it has a YJ tub on it, plus that paintjob. The paintjob says pavement princess to me, but those are usually in good shape as they don't get 4-wheeled. Not sure what the values are like in your area, but around here, a nice rust free CJ-7, especially with the V-8, would be worth more than a 93 ZJ, so I would totally do it.

It's not a trailer Queen. His Jeep club was meeting at his business while we were talking over the trade, he's the treasurer. The question isnt so much value. But the potential to be a DD. I'm thinking with 33's it'll be a little better.

If you went to 33s you will probably have to take out some of that lift or it will look weird. Maybe get some narrow 35s and see, 35s are very street able as long as you get something less aggressive than boggers.
