TOwing manual vs automatic

We're close to getting the Rubicon and need to know about towing them, is there anything special you have to do to an automatic vs the manual to tow behind a motorhome? I would like the automatic for rock crawling and ease around town but don't want a hassle when we're towing it.
Any help you can give would be appreciated

regardless you put the transfer-case in neutral. auto goes in park and manual goes in any gear.

Agreed also if you tow a lot there are many that use a device to pump the brakes when you stop to help slow it down, but if want an auto it's no problem t-case neutral, and transmission in park, do not put the transmission in neutral it could cause the transmission to turn when you drive there is not lubrication in the transmission when not running so it will destroy it. The transfer case is different even when not running the moving gears will lubricate themselves

We have towed our '04 TJ (auto) many thousands of miles behind the motor home with no issues, just follow the "recreational towing" instructions in the owners manual exactly.

By the way, in case your wondering, they do not record mileage while being towed, DAMHIK.

Hi! Just to clarify this comment...when you are pulling a vehicle and it is in neutral and in gear...no mileage increase? I really hope this is the case because we pull our 02 Wrangler behind the RV with a tow dolly and I need to keep the mileage down while I wait for an 09 to come from the factory (whenever they re-open!)

If you are about to buy one, consider that the lifetime warranty covers the auto but not any clutch components

You could tow it in reverse and see how much fun that would be... there once was a Dodge Dakota that had a transmission
