Ski rack question for a jeep rookie

Hi All-
I just got a new Jeep liberty sport with the sky roof. So far so good. Love it.
I want to put a ski rack up on it and have been told that I can't because of the sky roof. I think they are just saying that because they think that I would want to open the roof with the rack on.
Is it safe to get these cross bars with a sky roof?

I have the standard side bars on similar to this:

Any help would be appreciated. I am also open to other options that are easy to install and easy to take off in the summer.
