Should i buy this?

There is a 1990 Jeep YJ near me on craigslist for $700, i could problably get it for $500. it has newer soft top and full doors with it. It has a bad trans. I called the guy and he said it has the 4.0 Inline 6, and manual (AX15???) so, what do you all think? I think i may get it. Here is the link:

I'm by no means an expert as I just bought my first jeep a month ago (2006 wrangler unlimited), but from all the research I've done the 4.0 I6 engines received awesome ratings on longevity and durability. I would recommend that you either have your local mechanic take a peak or if you are going to be doing the work, price out what it would cost to get it road-worthy....provided that is what you are looking for. I always try to avoid something that is going to cost me more overall than the KBB private value. Being upside down in a vehicle, figuratively and literally, is a bad place to be. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck!

I say do it, you can easily part it out an double your investment, if you discover that it's more than a bad transmission

Well. The posting has been deleted. If it's got a halfway decent body buy it. The axles are worth $250 each, the top is worth a couple hundred, the seats can go for 200 a set, the engine if runs is worth at least 500.

Good luck.

I wish I could sell my old 30/35 for $250 a piece. If I found that deal I would snag it up quick. I'm in need of a motor/trans swap.

http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/2518317277.html

Before i spotted that wrangler, i was going to get this. but then i saw the wrangler and thought about the galvanized tub and better frame. i could problably get this for $400. i was planning on swapping the frame for a local one with a front Dana 44, and rear Dana 60 for $350, so should i jump, or wait for a galvanized YJ?????
