You won't piss me off. It's an open forum for discussion.

It may take a little longer - but people do care if it functions mechanically, right?

Would it have been smarter to do a lot of cosmetic stuff instead of rebuilding the transmission & transfer case, replacing U-joints & the front driveshaft, new brakes, new radiator, engine hoses, etc.? I have not added anything cosmetic to it. At this point, I won't, because there is so much personalization with that.

I find it more important to run correctly than to "look pretty".

Well, if it's $6-$8k - I think I will enjoy it for a while

... and I do appreciate your honest assessment. Maybe I do not understand what people perceive as what a "value" is.

To me, if I had a choice between a vehicle that had confirmation of completed mechanical work (especially at a shop) compared to a nice paint job - I would choose the one that had the work completed.

I agree with your assessment. In order to get 10-15k for a CJ it will need to be almost mint everywhere. Paint engine suspension tires etc. Very rarely will you get the $ you put into your jeep unless you are really lucky or are Collins Brothers. Anyway GL on the jeep. If it runs great and you aren't putting $ into it weekly Id say keep it. I woulda kept mine if I wasnt throwing $ at it on a college budget. Now that I have a "real" job I wish I did keep it.

Fair enough. It does run great - the only reason to sell is b/c the wife is wanting something that she can drive more easily.

That's fine with me, because I'm just using it as a hunting truck & on the weekend anyway.

If I can only get $6-$8k, I may just buy her one to use around town & leave the CJ at the farm. That would kill 2 birds with 1 stone... that way I wouldn't have to roll up miles in tow

That would be my plan of attack. I hope to be back into the Jeep saddle within the next 5 yrs. Not a CJ, probably a nonrusted YjJ or TJ. Good luck on whichever route you take.

$10,000 jeep would be original tub, original paint, less than 25,000 miles. no lift, no big tires. laredo or reengage stripe, hard top and doors and mint interior.

now yours is a nice jeep , love the front bumper but i would but a high price at $4500

Fair enough brownbagg. The market must be different in LA, I know it is everywhere. I had a dealership here offer $7k for it. From there, they were going to put it on the lot for sale... so I would assume that they feel comfortable that they could sell it quickly from there.

Maybe I'll do that, but take my bumpers, spare tire, and winch back first - they say accessories don't matter to dealers! Ha!

Id say in this case the $7k was for your jeep as it sits. If you take those parts off the price is probably going down quite a bit.
