Rubicon Sahara Unlimited

I have the opportunity to buy an '05 Rubicon Sahara Unlimited. It's the special badged unit with only 1000 made. It seems like it's in good shape with only 40k miles. It comes with only the hardtop, brand new run-flat tires, chrome tubular grill, etc. Od course the owner is aying it's a rare vehicle but is this something I want to pass on and what should this vehicle sell for? I can't find anything comparable to compare to.

Thanks

Well put it into KBB and see if the owner is with in reason, the differences between it and a regular Rubicon Unlimited, is visual stuff, so is worth a lot of extra money over a regular Rubicon Unlimited, probably not.

Well, I did enter it into KBB and it came back at $22k for retail. I am buying it from a dealer but that seems like a lot for that truck

That's a lot try price on of a regular LJ Rubicon, that is what it is worth, plus 22K is high I would say more like 15-18K

As the owner of #40 of 1000, I say buy it.

Unless it is #0001 there's no real difference in cost between the sahara and regular rubi's yet, it's not old enough. 20-22K seems to be the going price in so cal for a stock unlimited rubi, assuming you can find one.

Here's #0039

Well, I just bought #693. It's in great shape with only 45k miles. This was a dealer's personal vehicle and had just installed a 2in lift kit, upgraded shocks, new run-flat tires including spare. It came with the hardtop but no softtop. I paid $14.5k which I thought was a pretty good deal. Anyway, I'm glad to be part of the fold again.

Cheers

I saw #0001 for sale on the Charlotte Craigslist, totaled for $8k a few months back. I will check and see if it's still there.

If history holds true, the one you saw was 1 of 1000, not #1 of 1000. I've been down this road way to many times before. I've tracked down at least 3 supposed #1's and they've all been .

There is a guy here on JeepForum that claims to have #0001. He hasn't sent me the VIN for verification yet.

You are correct sir. I guess I'm another "that guy." It seems to be 1 of 1000 instead of #0001.

Sorry for beating a dead horse.
