Opportunity to buy a Unlimited Rubicon Sahara.

Hey everyone i currently own a 04 Wrangler Unlimited which is mostly stock.

I recently found a Unlimited Rubi Sahara for sale, and im getting pretty tempted to trade my jeep for this rare beast.

I mostly want it for the Rubicon upgrades, but also the cool factor of having 1 of 1000 of these jeeps.

Anyway i paid right at $16000 for my Jeep, and the dealership is asking 21950 for the Rubihara.

Specs:
18400 miles
Soft Top
Auto
I believe its missing the special spare tire cover, but im not too concerned about that.

Anyway what do you guys think i should do? Thanks!

Man, that's tough. You aren't going to find many low mileage examples out there, and the dealership is pumping up the price because of it.

I'd be interested in it too. It's at least worth talking to them about it, maybe they'll make you a good deal?

You haven't done much to yours so would be worth the trade......
if you can get $16,000 for your 04 against the asking price.

I don't see the value, down the road, of a 1 of 1000 every being inflated much.... but they are a cool rig!

no way they will give you anything close to 16 for yours, maybe 10k and they are a bit high on that Ruby. I've seen most LJ Ruby's around 50K go for 18,000. What are you gonna do with this jeep? If it's just to say you own a Ruby then I would just pass, if your gonna wheel it do you really want to beat up a 20K vehicle??

You can use any #'s you want. All that matters is the spread.
I was saying $6,000 plus his LJ might be a good deal, depending on his 04 mileage.

I just bought an 05 Unlimited Rubicon Sahara last week for $15k. It was pretty much completely stock. It has 45k miles on it. The only thing that mine has that is different from any other Rubicon Unlimited is the decals on the sides. Doesn't look like the dealer put the Sahara extras on my particular one. It doesn't even have the number plaque on the interior. I haven't called to find out what number it is yet. It doesn't seem worth the price the dealer is asking bc the guy I bought mine from was getting trade in offers of $13,500. Good Luck.

I would definitely check the VIN to see if it is actually the limited edition, the decals on the sides can be bought- so can the spare tire cover, chrome grill - I would say if it doesn't have the numbered sticker on the inside it might not be a Rubihara.

To the OP- it does seem a tad pricey though. Although that is exceptional low mileage. I paid $15 for mine at 80,000 miles and thought that was really fair. However, my one major regret is not asking for a discount because it didnt come with a hard top. I wish I knew how expensive they were for an LJ before I drove it off the lot without one.

As for the limited edition value... probably none. But its still pretty cool.

nothin jeep sells is rare, its all about getting more money, they slap a 2 dollar decal on it and raise the price 5000. there are two jeep rubicon and everything else. a decal doesnt make it worth any more money, its not rare

Well after some digging and some help from Glockster and some others on the forum (there used to be a huge thread on the Rubiharas that was removed by the OP unfortunately), I found out mine is in fact number 430. I ordered the dash badge and tire cover. The only thing that I don't have is the tail light guards, which I'm not worried about. The folks at Imperial Marketing were pretty helpful during the process. I also got an original build sheet from Chrysler. I'm all set.

While a Rubihara has the cool factor, it will probably wear off quickly, especially if you shell out $20k+ for it. The dealer has jacked up the price hoping some sucker will pay the premium for the cool factor. It's probably worth it just to stick with your ride, or find a regular LJ Rubicon if you really want a Rubi.

Let's say you trade in your LJ for $12k, and pay $20k for this Rubihara out the door. That's an $8k hit to your wallet. Think of what you could do to your rig for $8k. Lift, tires, wheels, lockers, bumpers, skids, regear, etc. You can make YOUR rig really awesome with $8k.
