New Jeep Islander

What do you guys think about the new Islander? I'm thinking of getting a new car, and this package looks great in the pictures. I like the blue exterior, and the interior accents. Is the price difference enough to make it worth it? Seems like a big jump in price, but you do get the bigger tires, which is something I would want in a new wrangler anyway.

I already have an old CJ, maybe I should get something that gets better gas mileage, but Jeep does have a rebate now. It would be nice to have a Jeep as my daily driver as well with the sunrider top, I'm would be moments away from a convertible, but with the old CJ, I have to make the choice before I leave home because there is no way to store the top on road.

p.s. I know the GPS is for Hawaii, but does anyone know where the coordinates on the Mountain version are?

I drove an Islander today. Very nice, not sure if it is worth the price difference either. Better suspension and Rubi wheels are tempting me though.

The Islander and Mountain editions are a huge waste of money to me. What, for the "exclusitivity" of an ugly sticker and paint job?

No drivetrain mods, and bigger tires. Whats the catch?

Id rather buy a sport and put the extra money into mods, my opinion.

My local dealer where I purch'd my JK has several of both in stock,... can't say other than decals and dressy seats, knobby tires they aren't any different 'cept the PRICE. Dealer has a $2,995 PREMIUM OVER MSRP on Mountain and Islander!!Strange since Xysler sold less vehicles than 1960 last year and they just BEGGED me (almost) to order my JK and pay only "invoice" just this winter, ...and dealer also forked over the "labor in full" in the price to have installed dealer purchased accessories (heated seats the biggie cost),... so for SEVERAL thousand of $$$ saved you can order an almost exact same equipped JK from same dealer w/o either package....Of course the window sticker and add on price has no bearing on if anyone will actually BUY at that - or even close to that price!

Can you give some specifics on what kind of deal you got? What is "labor in full"? You saying that they normally charge to install dealer installed accessories? I like the wheels and the sunrider top, that's why I was interested in the islander.

I paid exactly the factory printed invoice for the JK, ordered in '09 and paid for 12/30 (to get the 09 tax deduction) as I liked equipped...and the " catalog book price" (retail price ) for dealer installed: heated seats, 4 mud flaps & locking gas cap (cap was actually no charge along with a full tank of gas which were negotiated BTW just before signing), that were installed @ "no extra charge" - a good deal a the labor for 2 heated seats whuch invloces cutting for the switches and involves electrical work...Ad teh JK was exactly equipped and color I wanted and the tranaction was "no bull" straight cash deal, fair foir all parties, they got holdback for profit, I got fair price (and the military $500 rebate in addition to the $750 rebate too)...
