My first jeep

Hey everybody. This is my first post on this site. Yesterday I bought my first car, a 2000 Cherokee Sport with 190k miles. Everyone I talked to said the jeep, if maintained, has a lot more life in it. But im pretty scared about the miles. It also has brand new wheels, new tires, new shocks, and absoloutely no rust. I was wondering what your guys' thoughts were on this.

Your Jeep seems like it's been maintained previously, since the PO replaced the wheels and shocks. Your Jeep should be gunship to about 250 without major issues, there are a lot of people with more mileage on theirs and are running fine.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. A 1990 YJ 2.5l 4cyl doesn't really compare to the components of a 2000 XJ 4.0l 6cyl.

I assume it has the automatic transmission? If serviced, the engine and transmission should be just fine. 190k and I imagine it'll have the common lifter tick (my 2000 TJ has had it since I bought it at 53k miles) and there may be some minor maintenance issues here and there. ie.) Water pump, radiator, TPS etc. but nothing foreseeably major at 190k that is a commonality among the 4.0s going kaput.

Granted this is all speculation. Without seeing the condition of the Jeep in question or it's service history, all of the above in this thread myself included, is moot.
