Looking for a TJ any advice welcome

Hi all!
I currently have a 95 yj. We are looking to upgrade to a tj. Are there any years or issues to be aware of? I love the yj but it's getting pretty long in the tooth.

Here is a really good link to look at the changes per year.

Example, the dist and wires were done away with at 2000, along with a better 5spd.

A new 4spd auto in '03, and then a new 6spd manual later on.

Seat style and door mirror changes at '03.

I got an '02, I wanted the direct ignition and new 5spd.

Just review and pick your years.

When looking for one really get under it and check for rust. Since you already own a jeep you probably already know but the frames and body rust out pretty good especially where the rear lower control arm mounts attach to the frame.

I would try to get one in the 2002-2004 range. Seem to have the least amount of issues.

Or at least that's what it was when I bought my 2003.

the cleanest one are in south west. I see clean ones for sale all the time. i have seen them with 30k on the clock and look like they were of the jeep show room floor still. friend of ours is selling a 04 i think. they bought a Xtera :-( Lj still has stock tires on it. no rust other than minor surface. so be picky and High KBB is for very clean perfect condition. few jeeps will ever be that way. they rust away as we all know since 1944. i think it was secret way to keep them out of the hands of the enemies.
