Looking for my first Jeep
I am in the market for a jeep I would like a 97-06 wrangler or a 99-02 cherokee or grand cherokee. I drive less than 20 miles round trip for work and it will be used for shopping when the trunk wont do it. I am pretty fixed on a wrangler but I cant seem to find anything in my price range in the chicagoland area. my limit is 5k. I f I could stay under it it would be better so then I could lift it and change the rims and tires. but out of the choices which should last longer milage wise? I know to look for the 6cyl. anything else?

I think they are all equally reliable. Each one has little quirks about them but from my experience the GC was great. As it got on in life (200K+) it needed more and more repairs but its all in the vehicle. I mean you can see Jeeps of all styles and years on the road. I know someone with an early 80's Wrangler that swears by it. It's personal choice in body style honestly.
