Hard to tell without pics and seeing it. That would be top of the barrel $ wise for any YJ IMO so if it is not in near mint condition of you can't talk the owner down any I would keep looking

$5500 no. He mentions it only needs a paintjob (which may not matter to you) which will run you a few grand minimum if you want it looking good and a backseat which once again may not matter to you. He dropped it $1k so he could be eager to sell it. I personally wouldn't give more than $4k for it but I am picky and just starting a YJ search myself.

Ya. $5500 is high. If it were in excellent condition, maybe. Make sure to look at the frame and everything underneath. You don't want rust issues. Start the offer at $3800, if you want it that bad. The pictures aren't amazing, so I can't tell what's wrong with the pait. If it's just faded, you or a nice detail shop could polish it. I've bought vehicles with faded paint and a good buff and wax made it look like new.

I agree - its a bit high but does have some nice accessories. Id holdout for a 94 or 95 so you have the external clutch slave.

If paint really needed I agree that 4000 is about right.

I don't like the stance of it...sometging looks off with too much tire sticking out. Not the best choice for wheel back spacing.

No bad bad idea. Buy a Corolla. Turn around and run the other way before it's too late!

Wish one of these guys would have warned me about Jeeps... I have 2 of them now and am balls deep in rebuilding my YJ

Yeah. Found a good deal on a 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder at the dealership I planned on visiting before looking at the YJ. Wasn't even there to check it out. Saw it on the way in.
