Hello

Looking at a 77 CJ5 to buy for 2k. It has a 304 V8 AMC.

Dont know anything about CJs. Any advice would be helpful.

its a 77, if it crank, moves and stop under its own power, its not a bad deal

If you can fix it yourself go for it, however if you have to take it to a mechanic I would pass on this CJ and any CJ you are considering.

Agreed with Adam. Consider time and money. I bought a '79 in February (which did run, no rust, etc.) with the intent of using it for a hunting vehicle. Around $15,000 into it now - I have it for sale.

You may be surprised at what PO's change that you will get to find, as well as what doesn't operate up to your standards once it is used for the first time in a while!

I would tend agree that $2,000 would not be a bad deal if there is minimal rust, it cranks, stops, and moves.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I decided to wait a little longer and possibly go with a yj or a tj.
