Looking at a 1984 CJ7 for first Jeep

Well I am looking at joining the Jeep Nation. I have found a 1984 CJ7 with a 250 6 cyclinder, has 104k miles, Fresh paint, the inside has be Rhino lined. Brand new winch, new tires, 2 soft tops, extra set of roll bar doors. The jeep is at my mechanic's he said it is mechanically sound and wants to buy it himself. Price is 6k firm. Is this a good deal? Also what kind of gas mileage could i expect. I plan on using this as an everyday driving vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 86 CJ7 Laredo for $8,500, and even though it has a few things I will need to fix I think I got a good deal. Minimal rust, has good pickup, transmission shifts smoothly, and it seems to ride very nice under 60mph. I drove it home, a 3 hour trip over twisty southern Missouri roads, and had no problems negotiating the corners at the posted speed limit.

I think if I was looking at your prospective Jeep and had a good gut feeling --and it passed the normal lookover I would do with any used vehicle, that 6k is a good deal.
