Just got a 2004 Cherokee...

Bought it cheap from my parents to get out of my expensive car payment I had before. It is 2wd auto and has around 135k on it and seems to run good. A little rough idle but I've seen the fix for that here on the site. Anything else I should be on the lookout for or expect to go bad soon. They kept it in pretty good shape and changed oil regularly. Thanks for input.

Well, I doubt your parents would hide anything from you to cheat you out of your money. If they would do that, then I wouldn't keep it. If they are good parents and you like the Cherokee OK, then I would keep it. BTW, keep away from future expensive car payments.

I meant future things to look out for. They are good parents and have done nothing major besides a brake job.

Keep it well maintained by the book. Check fluids on a regular basis and it should be good for 200k plus. Between now and then, it will need a timing chain replacement, possibly a valve job, but little else. No major rust problems in your area except some surface stuff from the sea air. Keeping it waxed will help that.

Good luck!

I'm hoping to get 200k at least. Thanks for replying.
