It is MUCH easier and less expensive to learn by studying everything you can about what you want to buy before you buy it. Be the expert and you won't get fooled by bad deals or shysters. I looked at a CJ7 that was touted as being "restored" for $6,000. Went to try it and couldn't even drive it because the clutch was shot. The owner told me that it was a "collectors item and could not be expected to be a daily driver". I didn't even make an offer, and told him to call me when he got it running. He never called. Study, study, study. This forum is the best place to learn all you need to know.
