Are Jeeps worth buying if they have been in a crash before?

I have a chance o purchase a 05 Wrangler Rubicon for 10k it has 55k miles on it but the guy has told me it has been in a crash before when offroading & it lost control & hit a tree on the passenger side he said it has had an insurance claim.

Depends on the extent of the damage and how well it was repaired. I would try to get details and have it thoroughly inspected by a mechanic (preferably a Jeep specialist).

If the seller won't let you have a mechanic look at it run, that usually means they are hiding something.

If it were me I would test drive the Jeep and take it to you mechanic. If he is not hiding anything he shouldn't have a problem with this.

Or bring someone with you to check it out. As a seller, he/she has the right to set the terms. I don't want tire kickers running me all over town for appointments. I would gladly allow a mechanic to visit at my house on my schedule.

Were you ready to give the seller $10k on the spot if he drove to your mechanic shop and got a good review? That would not be an unreasonable expectation.

As for wreck repairs, I'm all for it and own one myself. I was able to buy it BEFORE it was fixed. I would really like to at least see some "before" photos of damage.

I am currently driving my third salvage titled Jeep.
All were totaled by an insurance company, and I drove each of them for over a year before selling the first two...I'm still driving this '05 LJ.
I made double my money on the first two, and the guys that bought them had no problem with a salvage title. The vehicles were flawless when I sold them.
There are bargains out there if you're willing to look beyond the surface stuff.
BTW, my LJ cost $8,300 with 40Kmiles on it, 33's and a 4" Rock Krawler lift. It needed a front axle housing, front driveshaft, rear axle shaft and nothing else!!

It is hard to find a decent one and not get gouged.

It took me over a year to find s good deal on a tj, after I sold my yj.

Mine had been rear ended and repaired, but no salvaged title and no frame damage. Saved me $2800 under book. Everything else around here sells over book.
