Found this Wrangler for my wife, good deal?
Hey guys, I gotta admit I know next-to-nothing about Jeeps, otherwise I would have been able to answer this question myself.
Long story short, my wife has been wanting a wrangler since she was old enough to drive, we are now in the market to purchase a wrangler for her as a second car. I found a 93 IL6 wrangler close by and we went to take a look at it today. The guy is asking $6900, here is the breakdown. k&N intake custom exhaust hard top cd/aux plug/speaker bar anti theft bikini top 3' lift only 114k mi I've owned this jeep since 10k miles always professionally serviced, garaged, second car runs very strong, no problems new clutch/brakes clean title/ registered The interior was a little beat up, but otherwise was pretty accurate to his description. Is his asking price in the range of reasonableness or is he on crack? Secondly, my wife really wants to be able to take the top off and put it back on with ease, in addition to getting the doors which have no upper window track (half-doors?). Is this something that is relatively easy to swap out or do I need to look for a wrangler that already has this set up? Thanks in advance

Not sure how YJ's are priced in CA, but in MI this guy would be laughed off the internet. Here he'd probably get 4K tops.

Seems overpriced to me as well. Run NADA or KBB on the vehicle to get an idea of where it should be priced. As a guage, I picked up my 1995 Wrangler in September of 2009 for $2500. It is a 2.5l, but came with 4" Skyjacker Suspension Lift, New 33" BFG Mud Terrain Tires, Hardtop, and around 150,000 miles. Very different vehicle, but use this as an idea of what's out there. I found mine on Ebay.

The KBB on it in excellent condition is $4600. It has a hard-top and a bikini-top (whatever that is) included. It was on (I believe) pro-comp wheels with some pretty meaty looking BFGs and a 3-inch suspension lift. (I think RCD) I was going to offer him $5,000 and hopefully settle right around $5,500.
I just want to make sure I'm not about to get my pants pulled down on this deal. |

7K. Wow, I like YJ's, as I own one. But it better have a slip yoke eliminator, upgraded rear axle, and a bunch of other things to sweeten that deal up. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to look for an early model 6 cyl TJ wrangler for 7K, even if it is completely stock.

You think if I can talk the guy down to $5,000-$5,500 range it would be acceptable?

I am going to heed the advice you guys are giving and take a pass on this YJ unless he is willing to come down to like 4K.
Is there anywhere else besides Craigslist and Autotrader that you would recommend looking in the Southern California area? |

Jeep prices vary. I sold my 1994 YJ, basically stock with a 4 cylinder, for $4500 last year. Around here, 5-$5500 would be legit if it is in good shape.
