Basically, what I am looking to do is buy a project jeep solely for playing...hunting season...etc... I dont really know where to begin. I have some ideas though. I was thinking of a pre-catylist federal emissions model so I can drop a chevy 327 or 350 and not have any concerns about emissions. I need to be able to drive on the street so I cant over kill on mods and such. Basically, I need a good frame start with. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated!
A wrangler I think. I dont know the terms. Sounds like I need to do more research so I can ask intelligent questions!! I am basically wanting to get one that needs a lot of work. I would do a frame up restoration more than likely replacing the complete drive train and engine. I plan to spend a year or more than likely 2 to complete it. This would be a toy for playing in the mud and for hunting only. I would still need to be able to drive it on the street though. I figure about $10K total.
Uummmm, what does "YJ" stand for? What are the model years of it? Have any links I can use to get smarter about this or reading material? By the way, I really appreciate your help!!
YJ, TJ, etc were model names for the various wranglers (all jeeps have these abbreviations) here is a link to what the wranglers look like with their model names.
to my knowledge the YJ didnt come with a d44 in the US.
