Dont know if I should buy this jeep

hello, ive been looking for a jeep for accouple of weeks on craigslist and ive found a few in my price range but im not sure about them and id like to hear what you think about it.

the first one is $600.. 1994 6 cyl that isnt running, and he's been trying to chase down the problem with replacing all these parts (Oxygen sensor, new fuel pump, new rotor, new flywheel position sensor, new cap and wires, and another computer) but nothing worked. in the add he thinks its a wiring harness but i didnt know what you guys think. im no mechanic. and any idea how much you think it would cost to fix? or just more than i would want to put into it?

the second is a 1997 for $1700 a little rust and runs. I think he'd take less since its been on craigs for a while. the front ends a little dented up but not too bad.

i gues my real question is how reliable are the 1997's and the 1994's? who tends to have more engine trouble or is pretty much a mixed bag? just trying to learn a little before I buy. thanks!
