Diesel advice

Hi All

I'm thinking of buying a post-1999 grand cherokee diesel with auto transmission. Can anyone tell me what the common problems are or what i should look for? I think there were two different diesel engines, which one is best?

Also, can anyone tell me how many litres of diesel it takes to fill the tank, and how many miles this would let you cover? I don't want to know what the handbook says, I want to know what real people achieve! for example, my current car takes 35 litres of petrol and will cover 350 miles with normal driving, I want to know how a Jeep would compare.

Thanks in advance!

Richard.

Have you tired the grand cherokee forum, there aren't lot to people on here from the UK, you may also want to tell us what diesels they have over there, because they may be similiar to the ones used here but I really have no idea.

is there a grand cherokee forum in the UK, I can't find one!

I think the engines over here are either a 2.7 or 3.1 turbo diesel.
