Coolant help

Hello all,

I just bought a jeep and I noticed the coolant is full of rush and is like mud. What does this mean? Is it junk? Minor fix? Help. Before my 30days runs out.

You are just now finding this out?

It could be old and watery defunct coolant that is just full of rust. In that case the system needs to be flushed thoroughly and refilled with correct coolant. At best this shows that the PO neglected the vehicle.

It could be head gasket problems. Is there brown foam on the dipstick? In that case, let the fun begin.

No Foam. Just brown fluid. Yea everyone I've talked to said a flush should help out a lot. I'm dropping it off at the dealership tomorrow for the flush.

Good start. Keep us posted.

You said "just brown fluid." Was that on the dipstick or in the radiator?
