What is the right price for these TJ's ? Help a noob !
I have been looking for a TJ and found two in my area, I had spending limit of $10000 and it had to be automatic. Its going to be my DD so I didnt want anyting too old.
Out of these options, which one seems to be the best deal? thanks for looking.

I tend to stay away from modded rigs unless I abolutely know for certain who and how all the work was done. I don't want to have to replace or redo stuff not done right by others or chase weird proplems that some wannabe Jeeper messed up trying to modify or fix who knows what. This is particularly so for anything electrical or in the suspension that has been messed with.
My first choice on a preowned jeep is alway a one owner rig, that is stock and shows all the signs of good care by that owner...and of course I 'read' that seller for how the miles were put on the rig and by whom. That gives me the best understanding on what I'm really getting into. It is also important that the engine compartment and underside of the rig matches the stoy that the seller is giving. Of the two you are showing I am liking the the '99 Sahara for the reasons I've already stated. If it has all the original pieces from the original purchase and if the condition of it matches the story it would be my choice. That price is a little high in my neck of the woods, but it is the one I would pursueand try to buy. Good Luck.

I would keep looking but of the two #2 looks like it is in better shape and has a hard top which is another $700-1000 to buy used, it does have a small lift that could easily be brought back to stock if you needed, and there isn't much to screw up on so little lift, if had 4" of lift I would say walk away, because some much can be done wrong with that much lift. But of the two #2 seems like a better deal. I prefer stock as well. But 2.5" of lift isn't much.

But also hearing your opinion makes it okay to want to buy the white one. Im going to see the Sahara one today and will see how low the owner wants to go. |

Saw the 99 one earlier, it was really clean like it was stated, however being 11 years old it had many rock chips and cracked windshield. Checked the under body, frame is good no holes or anything but it did have a lot of surface rust through out which I totally understand. Now the bad part is the owner wants $9500 firm so I'm going to let that one go.

look for one with a rebuilt title...i got an 06 Rubicon with 18k miles on it for 13 grand and it had cosmetic damage that was fixed prior to buying it. Mechanically and cosmetically it is a solid TJ. Now it has 32k on it and no issues at all. Check your state regulations but mine came from indiana and now has a clean title was it was brought to IL where im from. I almost bought an 05 unlimited with 50k on it for 8 grand but hadda go with the rubicon.

I think #3 would be ideal and could be had for $7500....just haggle. The sell the hard top and get a soft top...after that you would probably net another $200.
