Buying a 2011 Rubicon, fully loaded, from a dealer with 600 Miles on it...

Should I pay MSRP which is what he is asking? I really appreciate the help on this.

if it's "used" at all then I'd say no. it's no long new which would warrant asking MSRP; it's "certified pre-owned" with very low mileage. doesn't mean they'll budge though. i had a dealer try and sell me a 10 year old TJ at 2k over bluebook and call it "below market value" just because more than 1 person was interested in it.

You have 600 miles less warranty - its not a MSRP priced vehicle IMHO.

What do they deduct - $0.20 a mile - Id start with double that amount and settle for somewhere inbetween.

once a vehicle is off the lot, it instantly loses 12-18% of
its value. id start negotiating from that angle.

On the same topic... I'm not familiar with JK's at all. Are dealers actually getting MSRP for them? If so, why?

I thought the only vehicles getting MSRP were limited production models and first model years of a desirable vehicle.

Well with tread lightly discount you get a deal that is 1% under invoice, given that it is used I would take another 15% off of invoice. I guarantee you that if some one traded it in the dealer probably took 20-25% of what they bought it from him for. So no there is no way I would pay MSRP.

it's not "used" it's still a new car, but the statement about the warranty is correct. your warranty will expire at 36,000 miles (bumper to bumper) and 100,000 miles (powertrain) regardless if you bought your car with 1 mile or 5,000 miles. however, 600 miles is not exessive for a new car on the lot. that just means either they sent someone home in it for the weekend and the sale fell through, or they brought it in from another dealer out of state and those are the road miles in between dealers. give me the vin number and i can tell you which. but yes, a lot of wranglers sell for MSRP because they hold their value. is it impossible to get a deal? no, you just have to be informed. if you dont mind the drive, i'm only a few hours from you. i could certainly help you out.

NO I paid 3% below invoice for my fully loaded jk and would expect that if it has 600 miles on it mine only had 9 when I bought it

I really appreciate the help. I think I am going to go through with it. They offered to deliver it to me on Long Island (from Mass) and knocked it down to $35,500. I don't feel like waiting 2 months for a factory delivery. They said it was used for shows (because it was fully loaded) and one of the sales guy used it for a couple of days. The VIN:1J4HA6D1XBL547021

I bought my Sahara on Long Island a couple weeks ago. They had to pick it up from a dealer in CT and at first didn't want to give me the TL 1% under invoice discount, but they gave in. I guess they make less on the vehicle if it is a swap.

Before I bought my used 2003 Rubicon, I had the idea of buying a brand new 2011 Rubicon from a dealer here in LA.
Rubicon are different from other JKs on the sales person point of view.

Since it is a Rubicon, they feel that there will always be a customer willing to pay MSRP.

I would never pay MSRP for a vehicle, rubicon or not.

600 miles are nothing but still it is not a brand new vehicle IMO.

If this dealer does not want to go down couple grand, I would definetely go to a different dealer.
Negotiate with 2 or 3 dealers at the same time, gives you best results.

Good luck!

thanks durable1. if anyone's looking, let me know what you're looking for. i'll let you know if i have it, and if i don't, i can try and get it. if i can't, i'll tell you where it is so you can get it yourself.

on a side note, we actually have 2 dealerships near you (not jeep ones though). we own sunrise toyota and BMW of oyster bay. we're really starting to stretch out.
