Automatic or Manual Transmission??
It's as simple as that. If you were buying a new or used JK would you get an automatic or a standard? I'm sure this is on here somewhere, but I couldn't find anything with the search function. Also, not to sway any votes, but I feel like wranglers in general come with a connotation that favors manual transmissions because they are more "bada$$." Just wonder what you guys think about this. Feel free to explain your answer if need be.

This is dead horse, try and search for it there are pages and pages of info on this, essentially it's comes down to preference. Except for 3% of extreme rock crawlers where an automatic would be better.

the currently offerd auto is an "old style" unit with terrible (for the Jeep) matching ratios...if a "modern" five six speed, with "tow" functions et all, and proper ratios, etc., were offered it'd be a closer choice. The med duty NSC 6 speed is Benz influenced, matches the motor well and is a MUCH better choice vice the current 4 speed auto box!

I'd rather have an auto for off road and manual for daily driving simply because I enjoy it.

A "modern" Auto would be nice, it's been a Chevy/Ford/Yota staple for years. Xyxler "cheaped out" givin' Jeep just a plain old design 4 speed w/ terrible gearing, THAT IS true.....Many prefer the auto, it's just too bad it's a 15~ year old minivan type gearbox!

Too little time

My two Jeeps are my first autos and my Civic is a manual (I grew up with old ranch trucks and sports cars). With that being said, I prefer a 4x4 as an auto. Manuals are for sports cars on paved, twisty mountain roads, IMHO.
