What he said, I like the Surf Blue and the Dark Charcoal looks good, but would love to see how this new green looks.

Has anyone heard when the Jeep Wrangler plant was going to start production again?

No idea, but you guys are right. I called my dealer yesterday, and he already started back-peddling on the completion and delivery dates again. He's now telling me that this coming Friday (the 16th) is my scheduled completion date. But based upon what you guys are telling me, it sounds like I shouldn't count on that date, either.

Do any of you know how to find some reliable news about all of this? I have been waiting since July, and still really have no idea when to expect my Jeep.

I placed my order even before yours. The informed salesman are using a combination of several years of experience and the order entry system to provide you with a completion date and an expected delivery date. In the past all the salesmen had to do was tell their customers 6-8 weeks or 90 days for factory delivery and they were often right.

Unfortunately, they are dealing with unprecedented circumstances so they cannot rely on time proven methods of forecasting. They have to analyze the dates on both a micro and a macro basis. With an operational factory that has been running several weeks the completion and delivery dates should be accurate. But when a parts shortage occurs the schedule becomes skewed. This factor causes delays for multiple orders across multiple dealers. Consequently, the dates become unreliable.

No one can predict anything reliably right now. We don't even know how many parts were involved in the recent shortage beause the news reports have been vague. The Wrangler factory was supposed to be shut down for a week. There has not been any news regarding a restart. If the shutdown takes longer than a week, it will become impossible to predict a delivery date. The factory continues to receive orders during the shut down.

. . . I almost wish that I hadn't asked.

You make good points, all around, and I'm sure that you're right.

Thank you for the information, and please let me know what else you hear. It is going to be in the 70s here in Atlanta today, and the sun is out. All I can think about is driving my new Jeep.

Some potential good news. The Toledo Blade newspaper reports that workers WILL return to work on 10/10 at the Toledo Wrangler manufacturing plant! Hang in there everyone.. I just oredered by Sahara two weeks ago in the Natural Green Pearl (without a good feeling of the color). But, I love my Jeep now...and had to have another. For those who have been waiting a while.....hopefully this is GRAND news!

Here is the link to the Toledo Blade news along with related articles:

Kanaly, it's interesting that you mentioned the weather. I almost wrote about it at the end of my post above. The weather in my area has been cloudy and rainy for a couple weeks. This is going to continue for another week at least. Hopefully, when this bad weather ends my Rubicon will be on the way to my dealer so that I can drive in the fall sunshine.

No sooner did I tout the weather here, than it turned bad on me. That's something, at least. It's much easier to drive my existing truck (non-removable top) when it's cold and rainy. That said, I still can't wait to get my Jeep. Please keep sending updates like the one you just sent -- at least it gives me something to do and keep up with while I wait, and your last post even gives me some reason for optimism.

I know that I have gotten desperate for my Jeep when I'm reading updates from the Toledo newspaper . . .

How did it ever come to this?

Last Friday (the 16th), the dealer told me that my Jeep had moved to "F" status, which apparently means that they have begun framing my Jeep. I haven't checked in with the dealer again this week, and was going to wait until Friday before I ping him again. I was hoping to get my Jeep this month, but November looks more and more likely. In fairness to the dealer, he told me back in July when I ordered my Jeep that November was the most likely time of delivery. So far, it looks like he handicapped the ETA pretty well.

I have not seen the new Jeep colors in person yet, although I have stopped by a couple of Jeep dealerships to see whether they had any Jeeps in stock with the new colors. At the time that I ordered, the new colors were only rumored and were not yet available, so I just went with silver. If I do see one of the new colors in person, I will be sure to take and post some pictures.

Does anyone else have any delivery / production news?

You might be right Comet. I called my dealer yesterday and was told my order is sitting at status "D" with an estimated delivery date of Nov 03 2009. I asked him what status comes after "D" and he said "D1" which means the vehicle is in the plant getting assembled. What I should have of done is ask him if their looking for guys to work at their Toledo plant. I could take leave from work and go build my own damn Jeep. I bought some customer mats for my Jeep from Quadratec.com and they've been sitting in the garage for the past month. Now picture me sitting on a milk crate with a Frisbee in my hands pretending I'm in my Rubi. lol

Does anyone know once a vehicle has been assigned a VIN number can an order be changed? Such as adding leather seats?
