Yes there is. You obviously have not worked with a salesman who can show you on his networked computer the expected delivery dates for his orders and those of others. These dates show EXACTLY when a vehicle is expected to be completed. Arrival on the lot (in my area) is approximately 2 weeks later after shipping by rail.

If you don't like the term "firm delivery date" then change it what you personally prefer. The concept remains the same -- the dealer knows EXACTLY when the vehicle is expected to be completed based on what the order entry system shows. That's the way the big wheels and the small wheels turn.

You contradicted yourself. BTW I owned a GM dealership for 15 years. I know how the system works but thanks for the refresher.

No I didn't. The completion date is a firm date that can be viewed in the Order Entry System.

The problem is that, due to unprecedented circumstances, the completion date cannot be relied upon as it was in the past.

Example factors:

* record number of JK buyers that includes customers who were formerly interested in or bought a Hummer

* Cash For Clunkers, which drastically reduced dealer inventory

* two lengthy idle factory periods which drastically reduced dealer inventory

* model year change and factory retooling

I called & spoke to Jeep salesman yesterday about the order I placed 3 weeks ago & was told there was no news yet on it.

I have a feeling by the first of October things are really going to open up - probably when Jeep.com will update their website with the 2010 model info too I hope.

They must have updated it today - although this looks like it's more of a teaser than a real actual permanent update. I would be willing to bet within the next couple of weeks there will be a bigger update than this.

Looks like Surf Blue is still an option, despite others mentioning it has been discontinued. I also noticed that Natural Green Pearl is only offered on the Unlimited.

Probably more changes to the site coming, as you already mentioned.

My salesman told me that my Rubicon is completed and will be shipped in a few days. I should have it about the end of this month.

For those of you who want to see photos now or cannot wait months for delivery of a 2010, eBay already has plenty of 2010 Wranglers.

The current bid for that 2010 Rubicon is $27,600.00

Has anyone in Canada received there 2010 yet? I placed an order back in August 17th 2009 and my dealer still doesn't have a delivery date but at least I have a vin # now... Also, doe's anyone have a real pic of what this dark charcoal pearl is supposed to look like? The JEEP site shows it being blue'ish. (that can't be right).

I live in the USA. At the end of last week I was told that my vehicle had been assigned a VIN number and would be shipped this week. It is supposed to arrive in my area next week. Given that the factory is being run by 3 shifts of employees, it can't hold on to our vehicles for very long. Yours should arrive in the very near future.

I know what you mean about the blue colored graphic for the charcoal vehicle. The strange color difference makes one think there might have been a last minute design change that was not communicated to everyone.

Are there any pics of the new green yet? It looks like it's going to be a variant of Jeep Green if you go by the website.

Just got mine this afternoon... Red rock Sport 2 doors. I'm so happy right now... It is the first 2010 the dealership got so they haven't seen the new colors yet...

Sherlock, Congratulations on your jeep! I just placed my order yesterday (Friday) for mine - I can't wait as well - they told me 6-7 weeks - we'll see. Have fun driving!

What color did you get? If it's one of the three new colors, post some pics when you get it.

If not, then post 'em anyways.

I did get one of the "new" colors - the charcoal gray - I got the 4 door, 4x4, unlimited sahara with navigation, etc. I opted not to go with the leather seats due to the comments on this site and the manager and sales rep strongly suggested the cloth. I am still ambivalent since I really like leather, but I have never owned a jeep so I will listen to others advice. I also got the manual tranny. Haven't driven standard in years, but I think "muscle memory" will kick in! I will post pictures as soon as it arrives.
