The dealer I talked to today said that the 2010 models are about 6 - 8 weeks out from delivery. Now thats dealer stock AFAIK, not customer orders.

They have 5 or 6 2010 Wranglers at Tyson Motors up here in Illinois. I checked them out while getting my wife's Commander serviced.

Anyone know when Jeep will update their website to include the 2010s? I would like to check out some pics of the new colors and/or see what is going to be different between them and the 07-09s.

Yeah I literally check jeep.com every day to see if the website has been updated to reflect the 2010's yet.

I was hoping it would be updated after Labor Day but at least as of this morning it has not. Hopefully by October it will be updated.

Updated Time Frame for 2010

I spoke with a salesperson yesterday regarding ordering a 2010 unlimited sahara wrangler. He quoted 6 weeks - he also said it would be list - further stated no price negotiation until 3 to 4 months out. I am in Katy, Texas (suburb of Houston) - is this comparable to what others are being told? I think I am somewhat skeptical of the delivery date, but maybe.... I initially requested the leather seats and each dealership I have spoken to seems to not have much info regarding that option - the salesperson yesterday said it would most likely not be available until spring 2010 - perhaps that is the reason I received the first delivery date of spring 2010 for the wrangler. My heart is beating a little faster to think I could be driving a jeep before the end of the year!!!

When I ordered my Sahara last month I was also told the optional leather was on backorder as well & would significantly delay shipment. Since dealership gave me estimated delivery @ 3 months anyway I went ahead & ordered it with cloth seats because I can't wait longer than 3 months.

When I ordered mine I was also told more or less prices were "set" however when I ordered the prices were "locked in" so that if prices go up afterwards which they said probably would then it would not affect me. I don't know how much of all that is true or not but there it is...

comet, I'm in the Dallas area and buying through one of the largest dealerships in the state. I would not put any faith into a 6-week delivery date for an order placed now. My Rubicon order was placed months ago, and the salesman really has no idea when the vehicle will be delivered. His best estimate was for delivery at the end of this month, but if it takes until the end of the year, then there is simply nothing anyone can do about it.

If you need evidence of the lack of inventory, drive by a few dealerships. Their lots have very little left anymore. This tells you that all dealers nationwide are in the same predicament. It will take a very long time to restock so many dealerships and then handle individual orders too.

Regarding the list price, I suggest that you try to do better than what he is offering. Although I ordered my 2010 some time ago, the economy has not improved that much since then. I was able to get the vehicle for a little over invoice. Contact other dealerships in Houston and see if they offer a better deal.

Thank you for the info. I agree with you - I spoke with another dealership today and he stated it could be three months - I don't think anyone really knows an accurate delivery date. I am curious, did you order leather seats or cloth? You seem to have gotten a really good price on your Rubicon - do you mind if I ask the name of the dealership you used? I may call them and see what they would quote - my in-laws live in Arlington anyway so taking delivery in that area would be fine. Thanks again.

The Jeep order entry system had just gone live when I placed my order. Neither I nor the salesman knew anything about the seats. I still know absolutely nothing about them. Whatever the factory installs as the default is what my vehicle will have. Over many years I have driven a few vehicles with cloth and leather seats. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. The truth is I don't care either way. My previous vehicle had cloth seats and constantly annoyed me with static discharges. My present car has leather seats. Not long after I took delivery of the vehicle the driver side seat began to develop wrinkles. This became progressively worse over a few years. So which material is better? It's a matter of preference, nothing more.

The dealership I am working with is Huffines. They sell several makes and models, as you might be aware. Someone told me their business is so large and that they have been around so long that the family has a billion dollar fortune. When I contacted each dealership I was very upfront and open, revealing my salary and high credit score immediately. I very strongly pointed out that this is a sure sale to whomever offers the lowest price. My strategy worked perfectly with this dealership. The salesman instantly offered me a price just over invoice.

Rubicon, Ok, I received another quote this afternoon from MacHaik in Houston - supposedly invoice on the options I want is $30,990 - their offer to me is $31,550. Their original asking price was $32,990 before I negotiated somewhat. I will probably go with the cloth seats - thanks again for the info and your time in replying. I hope we both get our jeeps before the end of the year!

I am becoming really upset over the uncertainty of the delivery date. This morning I walked away from the purchase of a brand new home for various reasons. So believe me when I say that I could dump the Rubicon order instantly without remorse. This week I will contact my salesman again to find out if he has a firm delivery date. At this point there is at least a 50% chance that I am going to cancel my order.

I was given 3 month estimate for time of delivery when I ordered my 2010 Sahara last month. I am going to be patient & wait exactly 30 days before I call the dealership & ask salesman to check on the status. It will have been 30 days in about a week. Hopefully he will have more information & a better/more exact delivery date by then.

Looking at the dealerships in my area via jeep.com they all seem to have gotten restocked with some new Wranglers, but according to the website the inventory is still all 2009 models. Jeep.com has not even updated their website yet for the 2010 models. I also debated about cancelling my order & going with 2009 model off the lot but since I have reliable transportation I can afford to wait, plus it will be nice to get exactly what you want in the exact color you want (this is my first vehicle I have custom ordered from a dealer)

I am hoping to have my new Jeep by Thanksgiving as well. Hang in there good things come to those who wait!

There is no such thing as a firm delivery date. Never has been. That's not just with Chrysler but all the manufacturers. I ordered mine on July 3 and as of Sept 8 it was in Hapeville, GA awaiting delivery to Jasper, GA. The dealership tells me they expect it this week but cannot guarantee anything. That's just the way the wheels turn.
