About to buy a new jeep.

What are your thoughts? What should I look for and check out when I go look at it?

Well it's a 1997 154k miles Sahara edition. 4.0 straight 6 with a 5 spd. New clutch. Has a ford 8.8 rear end. Dana 30 front. Has hard top and partial soft top. 4.5" suspension lift. Has ken wood stereo. I have around 6200 in receipts from the build. It was wrecked but it was just a low speed tip on wet pavement. Dented in the front fender on one side and cracked the original hard top.

I wouldn't give him anymore than book value and maybe less once I looked at it. Mods don't add to extra resale value, it is money put in that you probably won't get back when you sell it. Anytime a vehicle is lifted it is harder on suspension and everything on the vehicle. It sounds like it was probably wheeled, so look for trail damage.

What I usually do is check out KBB or NADA on a vehicle and compare it to similar vehicles around me. Normally I aim a bit lower than KBB because they are fairly high but with Wranglers they are selling at KBB or a bit over. The demand for them is really high and they are not making TJs anymore so their value is not going down much. If you find out setup EXACTLY how you want it and it was done right I would say pay whatever you are comfortable paying. Noone can really make that decision than yourself.

But it was in an accident, so KBB doesn't give you an accurate value.

If it is not totaled or salvage title KBB will get you pretty close.
