'97 XJ - Good price?
I'm looking at some XJ's and came across this one this morning. There are a couple things that need work. Timing belt needs to be re-adjusted(?). I read on this forum that the 4.0 doesn't have a belt, but a chain instead? Is this an easy mistake to make? Also, he says the Up-stream O2 sensor needs to be replaced, but he has the part. Is this an easy fix?
Here's the ad. It's listed for $1500, and from clicking on the KBB link I think it has 181,000 miles on it, auto, 4.0, but I need to confirm those. Thanks! Hello, I have a 1997 Black Jeep Cherokee Country for sale. It is an outstanding SUV! The 4x4 works great, the engine runs smooth. There are a few mechanical issues that need attending to, however they are very easy fixes, and if you are in need of a good vehicle for a bargain, the fixes will be well worth it. I want to stress however that the car does RUN GOOD. And will continue to do so regardless of whether or not you fix the issues, it will just keep eating gas. I have included 2 list; 1) Things I have Fixed/New Parts & 2) Things needing to be fixed. If you are interested let me know, I dont have much time so I will not spend what I do have haggling back and forth. If youd like the jeep let me know. Also for a reference here's the link to the KBB value: 1997 Jeep Cherokee - Private Party Pricing Report - Kelley Blue Book As you will see the Vehicle is rated in FAIR condition on KBB and it still is projected to sell for over $2200! My selling price is $1500 Or Best Offer!!! Let me know! List 1: Fixed/New Parts: - Water Pump - Radiator Hoses - Oil Pump - Throttle Position Sensor - Spark Plugs - Spark Plug Wires - Rotator Cap - Rotator Button - Muffler - Tail Pipe - Catalytic Converter - Battery - Battery cables - K&N Cold Air Intake/Air Filter - "Downstream" O2 Sensor - All Terrain Tires - Oil Pan Gasket - Cam Position Sensor List 2: Repair List: - Re-adjust Timing Belt - Replace "Upstream" O2 Sensor (I have this part) As I said its a good vehicle if you are looking to get around, and it will last FOREVER with proper maintanance. I love the damned thing but I just dont have time to get the last few things fixed, and it is just sittin in front of my house, being driven by my mother every once and awhile. HAHA!
