2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and Bluray Entertainment

I have been waiting to order a new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit because I wanted to get the diesel engine and the rear entertainment system option. Chrysler's website states late availability for these options but does not disclose a date and the dealer seems to not know anything either. I emailed Chrysler's customer service and they were kind enough to respond with the information below:

I am glad to read of your interest in Jeep.

According to our provided resources, the release date for the Rear DVD
Entertainment System has been tentatively set for Sept 17, 2013. Please
be advised that this is preliminary information and may be subject to
change. Due to the Dual Pane Panoramic Roof. the monitor screens are not
able to be mounted in the roof so a redesign required that the monitors
be mounted in the back of the front seats. Thus the delay and I
apologize as we have had many inquiries and are working to make this a
reality.

According to our preliminary provided resources, we are currently
anticipating for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models with the 3.0L
EcoDiesel V6 engine to start arriving within the Jeep dealership
showroom floors within the next few months. (Projected October 2013)
Chrysler Group LLC has not provided a specific timeframe for the
ordering availability of the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine. As the 2014 Jeep
Grand Cherokee models are not yet available for factory order with the
3.0L EcoDiesel V6 Engine, we are unable to advise as to whether you will
be able to purchase this configuration without additional packages. We
are currently awaiting final 50 state emissions approval.

Our best suggestion would be for you to keep in contact with your
preferred Jeep dealership as the ordering system changes on a frequent
basis. Your preferred Jeep dealership will be first informed as to when
they are capable of placing an order on your behalf and are the best
resource for the most up-to-date factory order timing and product
information.

We encourage you to stay posted with your preferred Jeep dealership or
the Jeep Product Information Center periodically for future vehicle
updates. Please feel free to sign up for updates on the Jeep brand by
visiting http://www.jeep.com/signup/index.html *By signing up, you will
receive a quarterly eNewsletter with updates and information as it
becomes available on new vehicles, special offers, upcoming events, and
more.

If you have any further product questions about the current Jeep lineup,
you are always welcome to reply back to this email and we will respond
back to you as promptly as we can. If you prefer, you can also call us
directly with your questions at the Jeep Product Information Center by
calling 1-800-964-0600. When you call, we can connect you directly to
your local dealership, providing your call is during the dealer's hours
of operation.

Thank you for your interest in Jeep,

I had the same issue although they ordered mine and didn't tell me it was not available. Although the dealership swears they have a company in stl that will install it for us to the same specs... guess we will find out

I was wondering if your Jeep ever came in and what the dealer did about the dvd?

copter101 10-09-2013 06:15 PM

I just got an update from Chrysler. They are now saying November 27th before the Rear Entertainment DVD System can be ordered. Bummer!

Everything is getting set back. The diesel GC. The diesel Ram 1500 and the new Cherokee. They being released months behind schedule.

So if you can order it on November 27th finally, did they indicate how long it would take to actually get it?

copter101 11-03-2013 07:42 AM

If we can actually order on November 27th, then I would think it would take the standard 4-6 weeks for production. However, Chrysler did not say specifically.

Any update on the DVD time line. My dealer told me Jan 1....

shanhuber 11-10-2013 08:47 AM

November 18 for the Rear DVD/Blue ray

copter101 11-11-2013 08:46 AM

Can I ask where you got the November 18 the date? I hope this is accurate as I would sure like to get mine coming.

shanhuber 11-11-2013 09:14 AM

Inside source, but it should be accurate.

shanhuber 11-12-2013 07:11 AM

Date change now 11/25. Hopefully this one sticks.

shanhuber 11-13-2013 11:06 PM

Sorry to report, but new delay
12/09/2013 (subject to change).

Velocity24 11-15-2013 10:48 AM

Any idea what the issue is? I really need to order a car for my wife. You would think this wouldn't be such an issue.

copter101 11-15-2013 03:30 PM

By the time they finally get this option on the Jeep they will be into a new model year. I can't believe that on a nearly $60,000 vehicle I can't order this option.

The time now is 03:21 AM.
