2009 Unlimited

Just bought a new Black Unlimited X 6 speed.

23S package
Hard top
Side Airbags
Sirius Radio

Sticker was 28735 and I paid 23550

Did I get a good deal? Would you have paid that much for a basic Jeep?

I'd appreciate your thoughts as it's not yet signed on the dotted line.

Thanks everyone and I can't wait to see you on the trail!!

Sounds pretty good for an 09; I'm seeing ~$5000 off MSRP here in the southeast on 09's (I'm shopping).

You might get a lower price on an 08, but you'd also be getting a lesser value vehicle since come January 1st it's a one-year old car even if you've only owned it two days.

thanks, yeah, she's an 09.

it's just an OK deal though. not great. not impressive. no 'wow' on savings.

I'm surprised. Aren't these dealers more desperate to get these cars off their books?

What are you expecting? I didn't run the #'s for the one you described, but if you add up invoice from Edmunds.com, subtract the 1000 cash allowance, and subtract the 3% holdback, what figure are you getting?

i guess i was just looking for that last sanity check before i sign the check.

i ran the numbers, yes. it works out to be about 3500 under invoice minus 3%. i'm just not sure i'm saving enough, and i hate wasting money.

Muddy, if your asking yourself those questions, then chances are, your right....There is always room for improvement and in your case, savings. You just have to ask yourself whats more important to you in this case, and what are you willing to pay..

I'd certianly lowball them with the Lifetime warranty if i could, and certianly look for a few added features thrown in. It doesnt hurt to ask, and given the amount of jeep dealers out there looking to make their next check, I certianly dont see it as impossiblity to obtain what you want, for a price your Happy with.

Good luck,
Happy Jeepin.

I'd say that is a decent price, even for today's crisis.

I always think it's funny how people will tell you that you can get better deal (or meaning that they could get better like their an expert at sales... okay go try!). I've worked around sales for a long time, and they always tend to have the upper hand as long as you want what they are selling. Which it sounds like you want it, which it's tough not to want a new Wrangler.

Enjoy it!

I just got this 2008 model yesterday for $22,200 with a tow package dealer added. It took me two days of phone haggling and 2.5 hours of face to face to get the price down that low.

thanks to everyone for the feedback. while i'm convinced that i got a good deal, the snow that dropped yesterday made it all irrelevant. wheeling in that mess was priceless and the wife loved it.

now it's a real shame that no one will wave to me though...

It sounds like most are working the same deal. $500 shy of 20% off MSRP. That was exactly my deal. I probably could have gotten another $500, but that would affect my payments by $7-10, not the end of the world and I love my Jeep. I want the dealers to make a little, just not a lot. We all have to make a living.

Are these numbers before or after the $1000/$2000 rebate (09/08)?

After. Of course it's a new game as of today/tomorrow; I think the existing set of promotions expires today (1/2) and don't know what's up next. Any leverage you had that was based on the dealer getting a vehicle off the lot before having to pay 2008 ad valorem taxes is likely gone; time will tell in terms of how it may be balance out against other promotions.
