2005 Rubicon Value

Trying to get a fair value on a 2005 6 speed manual dealer claiming less then 30 thousand. wants 22 thousand seems a little high. Thanks for any input.

FWIW, two weeks ago I bought an '03 Rubicon from a dealer with 57,000 mi for just over $16,000. 5 speed manual, cruise, factory hard and soft tops, neoprene seat covers, premium sound. Very clean and very likely never went off road until last week.

I can tell you that best case scenario loan value for an '03 is about $14,500, so says my credit union. Your dealer is way out of line.

Truly clean, low mileage TJ Rubicons can fetch over 20,000 easy. The loan value is not the actual book value, the difference is made up with the down payment, if financing. Now that many are realizing the Wrangler actually became extinct but in name only with the introduction of the JK minivan masquerading as a Wrangler in 2007, suddenly clean TJs are in demand. In a few more years, the TJ/TJ Rubicon supply will become tight.

If it was an LJ Rubi then sure $20k, but a TJ Rubi you would be a lil crazy to buy at 20k at this point IMO

Ya is it a TJ or LJ?

I've seen LJ Rubicons that price but I wouldn't pay that much.

Loan value still is an indicator of actual value. Call me naive or cheap, but paying $7000+ over loan value, as presented in the original post, does not seem like a wise decision. Rubicons aren't Miuras (or Defenders more appropriately) This argument certainly worked heavily to my advantage when I presented it to the dealer. If memory serves me, they were asking almost $20,000 for mine, though the "new guy" initially quoted me $15k over the phone.

Only if it's a tastefully modded LJ Rubi. Otherwise, anything near 20 is way too much.
