2001 XJ worth buying?

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...094924972.html

This will be for my daily driver. I picked up an 03 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 6 cyl and been happy with hers. I know the 01 faces the 0331 possible problem but this one is in great shape and in my cash range. I have driven a lot of XJ in terrible condition asking similar price but can't bring my self to move forward.

I know to listen for U joint noise when I test drive and suspension issues. Feel for drive train issues and steering problems. Looks like it is in good shape over all, no rust so must not have been in MN long.

Any thing else I should keep an eye out on when I test drive it and look around more?

The seller is someone who is very reputable from multiple people who have dealt with him before.

Also for the same price I can get a 2000 with 98k miles in good shape with some MN rust.

To be honest I would think either one would be fine. The 4.0 is such a long lasting engine, the mileage isn't really that big if a difference believe it or not. The lack if rust would be cool.

I bought a 99XJ 5years ago for $2200. Thats down here in KY where Jeep prices are through the roof. Take a trip buy a jeep and still have enough to drive it home. You could still spend less money. Or if you find one down here, I might be able to check it out and drive it up there to visit my Mom in the cities. Win for me and you.

Hi Corbie,

I saw your post after buying the XJ! I may have to take you up on your offer next time around. I bought the 01 XJ and am really happy with it. Can't wait to do some work on it.
