1999 XJ... Good Deal?

There's a 1999 Xj for sale wit 120,000 miles for $5,995. It's seems to be in good shape (from looking at it). Haven't test driven it yet but does this seem to be a good deal? Any input would be great.

im assuming its from a dealership because of the price. it is a bit high. i bought my 99 with 75k on it for 4,500 so you can most defiantly get a better deal or try to talk them down because that is way above KBB.

if you cant get it for the pice that you are looking for just walk away, there are plenty of XJ's out there and if you look hard enough you can and will find a good deal.

I would also say thats a bit high. If its clean and rust-free a good price would be between $4000-4500 ballpark.....good luck finding a Jeep!!!

My price range is under 5,000 but for a XJ here in Colorado with miles between 80,000 and 130,000, I'm lookin at around 6,000.

Take a look on craigslist.org and cars.com for your areas. Always try to negotiate a dealer down to at or below KBB.

My 99 was $7000 with 99000 on the clock. Yeah i little high, but the PO was an older couple and it was very well maintained, and obvioiusly not abused offroad. Probably 100% road driving and not over 60mph.

When I go to look at the jeep tomorrow, what should I specifically look for? I know to look for rust on the floor and for signs of an accident. Also what are the pros and cons of a 1999 over a 2000? Thanks again.

stick with the pre 00 jeeps, they changed the head in 00 which is more likley to crack.

other things to look for are to make sure that it is well maintained along with make sure all of the fluids are topped off (this is a sign of it being well maintained).

That's what happened with my dad's jeep. But what about the distributorless ignition system for 00-01 models?
